For those who may not know, Southern California is subject to seasonal winds that blow from the Northeast corner of Los Angeles County down from the mountains and out to sea. these "wind events" usually last for 3-5 days. with gusts of 40-50 miles per hour, these winds can cause severe damage to property and can endanger life by toppling trees and knocking out power lines. the real danger of these winds is when they occur at the same time as a wildfire. wind whips down the mountains and can turn a single spark into an unstoppable raging inferno.
